Snoop Dogg Sells $10,000 Joint to Support Alzheimer’s Charity

During a recent interview with Variety magazine, well-known Canadian comedian and actor Seth Rogen shared a remarkable story involving his good friend, rapper Snoop Dogg. According to Rogen, he once witnessed Snoop Dogg sell a joint for $10,000 at one of his concerts to raise money for an Alzheimer’s charity.

Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, who was also present at the concert, explained that Snoop donated the entire amount to the “Hilarity for Charity” foundation. This organization collaborates with comedians, musicians, and other celebrities to raise funds for programs aimed at fighting Alzheimer’s disease and other serious illnesses.

The topic of Snoop’s charitable work came up unexpectedly during the interview. The journalist asked the Rogens how celebrities who support cannabis legalization participate in charity projects related to the medical use of the plant. That’s when they both recalled this story.

“You know, one time Snoop just sold a joint with his signature weed to a fan at a concert, right from the stage. It was kind of a spontaneous, unexpected auction,” Rogen said. “He managed to raise a significant amount of money to fight Alzheimer’s, if I remember correctly.”

“Yes, that joint actually went for $10,000, no less,” Miller confirmed. “Every last cent, Snoop sent to the charity fighting this disease.”

Rogen added, “I understand that our activism with Snoop might seem like PR or an attempt to promote our own cannabis business, but believe me, as true cannabis enthusiasts who believe in the plant’s benefits, we couldn’t have done otherwise. We genuinely hope that our small contribution to cannabis research will help save and improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. We’d all be happy if our efforts helped humanity defeat this terrible neurodegenerative disease.”

The Rogens did not specify where exactly Snoop held this auction, only noting that it was a private, not public, event. Snoop Dogg himself has not yet commented on their story.

Other Notable Cannabis Charity Auctions

Charity and promotional auctions like this are nothing new. For example, in 2018, luxury cannabis brand Diego Pellicer from Seattle held an auction for a joint made with 24-karat gold rolling paper. That unique joint also sold for $10,000, with the proceeds going to charity. Similarly, Beverly Hills-based Cheryl Shuman’s brand auctioned off a luxury cannabis vape for a total of $150,000, which was also directed toward research into the use of cannabis in treating chronic illnesses.
