Qrator Labs and Yandex.Cloud Introduce Yandex DDoS Protection Service
Qrator Labs, a company specializing in countering DDoS attacks and ensuring the availability of online resources, together with Yandex.Cloud, the public cloud platform from Russian internet company Yandex, have announced the launch of a new service: Yandex DDoS Protection. This service is designed to protect applications hosted in the cloud infrastructure from DDoS attacks.
How Yandex DDoS Protection Works
Yandex DDoS Protection is activated when a cloud resource is created and is applied to the public IP addresses of virtual machines, network load balancers, and database hosts located in Yandex.Cloud. All incoming traffic to protected resources passes through Qrator’s filtering nodes, where it is analyzed regardless of whether an attack is occurring. After filtering, clean traffic is forwarded to the protected resource.
The service automatically filters traffic at the 2nd and 3rd layers of the OSI model and protects against SYN flood attacks. Continuous monitoring allows the system to determine the normal traffic profile for each resource and quickly detect DDoS attacks almost in real time, without user intervention.
Combined Capabilities for Enhanced Security
Yandex DDoS Protection combines the capabilities of Qrator’s external backbone network with equipment deployed directly within the cloud’s network. Qrator’s filtering sites, deployed in Yandex.Cloud’s infrastructure, ensure complete cleaning of locally generated traffic within the national segment of the internet, removing “junk” and anomalies. For attacks originating from other countries, Qrator’s main network, with its multi-terabit bandwidth and high-capacity packet processing, provides instant filtering of the most common DDoS attacks.
