PepsiCo Launches Rockstar Unplugged: New Energy Drink with Hemp Seed Oil

PepsiCo Introduces Rockstar Unplugged Energy Drink with Hemp Seed Oil

PepsiCo is launching a new zero-calorie, sugar-free energy drink under the Rockstar Energy Drink brand. The beverage will be available in three flavors: Blueberry, Passionfruit, and Raspberry Cucumber. Its unique formula includes hemp seed oil, mint, lemon balm, B vitamins, and 80 mg of caffeine—significantly less than other drinks in the Rockstar lineup.

About Rockstar Unplugged

The new drink is called Rockstar Unplugged and was developed in partnership with MTV, which airs a popular music show of the same name. According to PepsiCo’s Chief Marketing Officer, Fabiola Torres, the choice of ingredients was driven by consumer demand: “91% of our consumers told us they want a drink that lifts their mood.”

Many people believe that hemp seed oil has relaxing and calming effects, although this has not been medically proven. “Rockstar Unplugged is less focused on providing an energy rush and more on enhancing positive feelings with ingredients like hemp seed oil and B vitamins. These elements, combined with a fruity energy boost, help maintain a light, free, and upbeat mood in any situation,” the company’s press release states.

Availability and Pricing

The new hemp-infused energy drink will be available exclusively in the United States at a price of $1.99 per 12 oz (350 ml) can.
