KB5043145 Update Causes BSOD and Endless Reboots in Windows 11

KB5043145 Update Triggers BSOD and Endless Reboots in Windows 11

Last week, Microsoft released the preview update KB5043145 for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 24H2. This non-security update was intended to fix several issues, including freezes in Edge and Task Manager. However, users are reporting that installing this update can lead to endless reboot loops, blue or green screens of death (BSOD, GSOD), and booting into BitLocker Recovery mode.

Although KB5043145 was expected to introduce new features, it ended up only addressing a few bugs. Shortly after the update was released, Microsoft acknowledged the problems and updated the KB5043145 documentation to warn that users of Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2 might experience continuous reboots, and in some cases, their computers may become completely unresponsive.

According to Microsoft representatives: β€œSome users report that after installing this update, their devices reboot multiple times or stop responding, displaying a blue or green screen. Based on these reports, some devices automatically launch the Automatic Repair tool after several restart attempts. In some cases, BitLocker Recovery mode may also be triggered.”

Microsoft has stated that they are actively investigating the issue and working on a fix. The company promises to provide updated information as soon as it becomes available.

In a separate post, Microsoft developers are urging all users who encounter problems after installing KB5043145 to submit a report through the Feedback Hub and provide detailed information about the issue.
