Mozilla Tests Firefox Private Relay for Anonymous Email Addresses
Mozilla is developing the Firefox Private Relay service, which allows users to generate temporary email addresses for website registrations without revealing their real email address. With the help of a browser extension, users can create a unique anonymous alias with just one click. Emails sent to this alias are automatically forwarded to the userβs actual email address.
To use the service, you need to install the extension. When a website form requests an email address, the extension offers a button to generate a new email alias. The generated email can be used to sign up for websites, apps, or newsletters. You can create a separate alias for each site, making it easy to identify the source of any spam or data leaks. If you start receiving unwanted messages, you can deactivate the alias at any time and stop receiving emails through it.
Additionally, if the service is ever compromised or its user database is leaked, attackers will not be able to link the registration email to your actual email address.
