Fraudsters Steal 14 Million Rubles from Renowned Psychiatry Professor
The head of the Department of Mental and Behavioral Disorders at the Serbsky Research Institute, known for conducting examinations of murderers and maniacs, has become the victim of a major scam. Alla Avedisova, a respected professor, was deceived by a fraudster who called her pretending to be a security officer from Rosbank.
The scammer claimed that someone had attempted to take out a loan of 1 million rubles in her name and advised her to withdraw all her savings for safety. Despite her professional expertise in psychology, Professor Avedisova did not recognize the scam and fell for the well-known scheme.
According to the Telegram channel Mash, the professor withdrew large sums from her accounts: $60,000, €90,000, 25,000 rubles, then an additional €45,530 and $14,431. She brought all this money to a café to meet with the fake bank employee and handed it over to a stranger. However, the fraudsters were not satisfied and also took out a loan of 1 million rubles in her name. The total loss amounted to 14,638,191 rubles.
The police are currently investigating the incident.
