MJ, Ecology, and Fashion
Modern society has reached a point where the ecological quality of food, clothing, and the environment is considered just as important as health, education, and cultural or spiritual development. Notably, people of all ages are becoming concerned about environmental issues, and the number of healthy lifestyle enthusiasts grows every year.
21st-century fashion operates like a kaleidoscope, changing at a dizzying pace. Items and accessories that were trendy and admired just yesterday can quickly become unwanted, first tucked away and then eventually discarded. Each year, the amount of unnecessary stuff increases. Some of these items are recycled, while others are donated to those in need.
Designers Embrace Eco-Fabrics
The rapid turnover of fashion trends directly impacts the fashion industry. British designer Stella Nina McCartney (daughter of Paul McCartney from The Beatles) believes that modern clothing should provide safety and comfort without harming the environment. Thanks to Stella, the term “eco-fashion” emerged, describing the current relationship between people and their clothing. This concept calls for preserving the environment by minimizing harmful industrial emissions and suggests using manual labor with minimal resource consumption. Most importantly, it emphasizes daily care for the nation’s health and each individual.
Designers were the first to adopt the eco-fashion motto, switching to environmentally friendly materials. Manufacturers now offer three main types of eco-fabrics:
- Cotton, wool, and silk from eco-friendly sources
- MJ, bamboo, and nettle from rapidly renewable crops
- Recycled materials such as plastic bottles and car tires
MJ: A Leader Among Eco-Friendly Fabrics
The most popular and expensive materials are linen and cotton, as their cultivation requires a lot of manual labor. Nettle and bamboo are slightly less popular and in demand. MJ fabric stands out on its own. The demand for this pure plant-based material is growing rapidly, and it is expected that MJ will soon break consumer demand records. There are good reasons for this: the fabric is strong, soft, and comfortable.
The steady shift toward eco-friendly clothing is also evident in the noticeable decline in demand for low-quality Chinese goods. In addition to the purity of the materials, people are drawn to eco-fabrics because of the creative approach designers take. Modern clothing harmoniously combines beauty and ethical considerations, complementing each other perfectly.
