Russian Foreign Ministry Reports Surge in Cyberattacks from US Hosting Providers
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) has recently experienced a significant increase in cyberattacks targeting its systems. According to ministry representatives, many of these attacks are being launched from subnets belonging to American hosting companies.
In a conversation with RIA Novosti, MID officials stated that their security measures are currently successfully repelling all cybercriminal attacks. The ministry’s official websites and offices continue to operate normally.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that its information systems are a constant target for various cybercriminals, who often use subnets from both American and European hosting providers in their operations.
Most of these attackers attempt to disrupt the official website of the Russian ministry. However, so far, none of the methods in their arsenal have been able to bypass the information security tools used by the MID.
It is worth recalling that last week, the United States decided to impose new sanctions on Russia in response to recent attacks on the SolarWinds supply chain. Even the company Positive Technologies was affected by these measures.
