Major Ukrainian Internet Provider Suffers Large-Scale Cyberattack

Ukrainian internet provider Ukrtelecom has suffered a large-scale cyberattack. According to the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the attack was neutralized by midday on Monday, March 28.

The NetBlocks service, which monitors internet availability worldwide, showed that the attack affected users across the entire territory of Ukraine. Network data indicates that since the start of the special military operation, internet traffic in the country has decreased by 13%.

According to the notification from the State Service of Special Communications, Ukrtelecom is currently restoring its services. However, β€œto protect network infrastructure and to continue providing services to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military units, and clients, Ukrtelecom has temporarily limited services for most private users and business clients.”

β€œOur main task today is to defeat the enemy on all fronts, including in cyberspace. Each of us can help in this fight by following these cyber hygiene rules: do not open unknown messages, do not download files from unverified sources, and critically evaluate all incoming information,” the State Service of Special Communications stated.
