How to Remove Your Personal Data from the Internet: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Remove Your Personal Data from the Internet

Want to erase your personal information from the internet and make it harder for OSINT enthusiasts and amateur data hunters to find you? While the steps below can’t guarantee 100% removal, they will help you delete your data from the most popular platforms and block up to 70% of “data searchers” who won’t know where else to look.

1. Delete Your Social Media Accounts

Start with JustDeleteMe—a directory of direct links to delete accounts on various social networks, popular websites, and services.

This tool won’t cover every account, and it highlights services where deletion is difficult or impossible. Still, removing your accounts from the most popular platforms is easy with this resource!

2. Remove Personal Data from Search Results

2.1 Google

Go to this page and submit a request to remove your personal data (usually your full name) from Google search results.

2.2 Yandex

Visit this page, fill out the form, and attach a photo of your passport as required.

3. Remove Personal Data from Data Search Bots

3.1 “Glaz Boga” Bot

You can’t fully delete your data, but you can hide it and receive notifications about search attempts. Go to “Account” → “Delete information about yourself” → Select the reason “outdated information” → Attach your passport or social security number. Requests are usually processed within 24 hours.

3.2 “Quick OSINT” Bot

Contact the service’s support, fill out a request form, and send a photo of it. They typically review requests within 7 business days.

4. Remove Personal Data from Other Services

4.1 GetContact

Go to this page, log in via Telegram, scroll to the bottom, and disable visibility for your phone number.

4.2 Findclone

To remove your photos from this service, email the administrators at [email protected] and attach a few of your photos for verification.

4.3 VKontakte

Hide your VK page from prying eyes and make it impossible to find you by phone number. Go to “Settings” → “Privacy” → “Who can find me by importing contacts?” → Select “No one.”

4.4 Ozon, Yandex Delivery, CDEK, and Others

Every time a company is hacked and customer data is leaked, OSINT tools are quickly updated with this information. For example, if you ordered pizza from Yandex Eats and there was a data leak, your delivery address could appear in “Glaz Boga.” To prevent this, regularly request all data processors (i.e., the services you use) to delete your data, citing Law No. 152-FZ, Article 5. They are not allowed to refuse your request!
