Global Legal Cannabis Sales Projected to Reach 40% of Market by 2025
According to a British research firm, the cannabis market will continue to grow rapidly and generate billions in profits. Over the next five years, recreational cannabis sales are expected to drive a 376% increase in the legal cannabis product market. These findings come from a Euromonitor International study on the global cannabis market.
By 2025, recreational cannabis is projected to account for 67% of the global legal cannabis market, while the share of medical cannabis is expected to decrease from the current 23% to just 9%.
βCannabis production and sales represent a $170 billion global industry, but currently, the legal cannabis market is only about $30 billion,β says Shane MacGill, an expert at Euromonitor International. βAs regulations evolve, the legal market is expected to make up 40% of global cannabis sales by 2025.β
Spiros Malandrakis, head of the alcoholic beverages department at Euromonitor International, adds: βNew consumption occasions and personalized value propositions will bring the industry into the realm of fast-moving consumer goods.β
