Israel to Reduce Medical Cannabis Prices by 50%
Israel has announced new reforms regarding medical cannabis, including a 50% price reduction, the removal of cannabidiol (CBD) from the list of dangerous drugs, and more.
On August 5, during a meeting of the Labor, Welfare, and Health Committee, significant changes to the medical cannabis reform were presented. These changes are expected to benefit patients both economically and by reducing bureaucracy.
Main Changes in the Medical Cannabis Reform
- Transition from a permit system to a prescription-based system
- Requirement for a dedicated budget from the Ministry of Finance
- Direct marketing not limited to pharmacies
- Removal of cannabidiol (CBD) from the list of dangerous drugs
- Providing patients with detailed information about product composition

These measures are expected to lower the price of medical cannabis by up to 50%.

Minister of Health Yuli Edelstein said:
“When I took office as Minister of Health, I received many requests from patients regarding prices and disorder in the system. It was clear to me that professional and prompt assistance was needed. Thatβs why I asked my deputy, Yoav Kisch, to address this issue. Now we are presenting the main points of the program.”
