Google Tracks 39 Types of User Data, Apple Only 12

Google Tracks More User Data Than Any Other Tech Giant

A recent study by StockApps analysts has revealed that Google collects the largest amount of sensitive user data among all major internet companies. In contrast, Apple collects the least amount of user information, sending far less data back to its headquarters in Cupertino.

Apple’s Focus on User Privacy

Apple has previously published its App Tracking Transparency policy, specifically designed to protect user privacy. Furthermore, the tech giant only collects the data necessary to maintain the functionality of its services.

StockApps confirms Apple’s claims, naming it the company most dedicated to user privacy. According to the analysts, “Apple only stores the information required to service the accounts of its device owners. That’s why the company’s website is not as dependent on advertising as Google, Twitter, or Facebook.”

What Data Is Being Tracked?

StockApps lists the types of data being tracked, including geolocation, browser history, activity on third-party websites, and emails in Gmail (in Google’s case). The digitalinformationworld platform was used to monitor the data being collected.

  • Google: 39 types of user data
  • Apple: 12 types of user data
  • Facebook: 14 types of user data
