Firefox to Warn Users When Visiting Compromised Websites
Mozilla has added a new notification system to the Firefox Quantum browser that will alert users when they visit compromised websites. This update was announced on the companyβs official blog.
The pop-up notification will include brief details about the nature and scale of the data breach, as well as a link to the Firefox Monitor service, where users can find more comprehensive information about the incident. The new feature will become available over the next few weeks.
How Firefox Monitor Works
With Firefox Monitor, users can check if their email address has been involved in any data breaches by using the Have I Been Pwned? database. The notification will appear only once per website, and users can disable this feature in Firefox settings if they wish.
Itβs important to note that warnings will only be displayed if the data breach occurred within the last 12 months.
