US Offers $2 Million Reward for Information on Ukrainian Hackers

The US Department of State has announced a reward of $2 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two Ukrainian cybercriminals, Artem Radchenko and Oleksandr Ieremenko. This was reported by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

โ€œCybercriminals do not respect or abide by the rule of law in any country. Since their criminal activities span the globe, we welcome cooperation and coordination among all governments to bring these criminals to justice and protect innocent people worldwide,โ€ Pompeo stated.

In January 2020, the US Secret Service conducted an investigation that resulted in 16 charges against Radchenko and Ieremenko. The charges include conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud, and computer fraud.

According to the indictment, Radchenko and Ieremenko allegedly hacked into the EDGAR electronic data gathering, analysis, and retrieval system of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and stole thousands of confidential files, which were then illegally sold for profit, the Secretary of State reported.
