Cloudflare Removes CAPTCHA for Tor Users

Cloudflare has announced the launch of its new β€œonion” service, Cloudflare Onion Service, designed to make anonymous access for Tor users easier and more convenient, while also reducing malicious traffic targeting websites.

Using the Tor browser to visit websites anonymously can be uncomfortable for regular users. In particular, many visitors find it inconvenient to repeatedly complete CAPTCHA tests to prove they are human.

To address this issue, Cloudflare has introduced the Cloudflare Onion Service, a free solution that provides secure access to content through the Tor network. This β€œonion” service is hidden within the Tor network and is intended to establish intermediate anonymous connections with clients via a randomly selected relay node in the Tor network. With this setup, a full connection between the client and the service is established through six relays, some chosen by the client and others by the service.

β€œAt the same time, this feature allows for more targeted rate limiting to prevent malicious traffic,” company representatives noted.
