Human Brain Uses Quantum Computing: New Research Insights

Human Brain Uses Quantum Computing

A study published in the Journal of Physics Communications describes research conducted by scientists from Trinity College Dublin, who believe that the human brain performs quantum computations. Quantum processes in the brain may also explain why we can still outperform supercomputers when it comes to dealing with unexpected situations, making decisions, or learning something new.

After adapting an idea that proves the existence of quantum gravity to the study of the human brain and its activity, the researchers concluded that quantum processes are part of cognitive functions and self-awareness.

If the team’s results can be confirmed (which will likely require advanced interdisciplinary approaches), they could improve our overall understanding of how the brain works and possibly how it can be supported or even treated. These findings may also help in the search for innovative technologies and the creation of even more advanced quantum computers.
